I love portrait photography. For me, using myself as the subject has a lot to do with the fact that I live alone and am still learning. It's very much a form of self expression. My brain sometimes just thinks in portraits. Every now and again I'll see a space and imagine a person there. It kind of just comes to me and sometimes I'll sit with an idea for a month before I set up my tripod and camera and try to get the image like it exists in my mind. Not really an easy task when you can't look through the lens. In an age of selfies, I'm much happier making pictures of myself like this. I would love to branch out more often with other people as the subject. In time, I hope.
