History of Oatmeal Cookies
Oatmeal cookies have a long history and are believed to have originated in Scotland, where oats have been a staple grain for centuries. The cookies were likely a way to use up leftover oats and create a tasty, portable snack. They became popular in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and have remained a favorite cookie to this day. There are many different variations of oatmeal cookies, including those made with raisins, chocolate chips, nuts, and other ingredients.
About my Oatmeal Cookie Recipe
This is a recipe for a classic, chewy oatmeal raisin cookie. Raisins in cookies are occasionally polarizing. You either love em or hate em but I would take this cookie over a chocolate chip cookie every day of my life. Next time I will try subbing 1/4 cup of AP flour for whole wheat because generally I like the nutty flavour whole wheat flour adds to baked goods. If raisins aren't you're thing try subbing chopped walnuts, chocolate chips or go with any combination you like!
